Invitation from the President

I am pleased to invite you to the Anglican Schools Australia (ASA) 2021 Conference to be held in Melbourne this August. With a theme of Intersection, this conference presents a unique opportunity to reflect on the intersection of faith and learning in our Anglican schools. The vibrant city of Melbourne provides a ‘twist at every turn’ and is a great backdrop our annual conference, with effortless accessibility to good food, wine, fashion, sports and arts.

The conference builds on the themes of the 2019 Anglican Identity workshops conducted by The Reverend Daniel Heischman.  Ann Mellow, Associate Director of the National Association of Episcopal Schools will facilitate workshops to enable participants to develop action plans for their schools.  Thought-provoking speakers including Melbourne icon and 2013 Melbournian of the Year, Major Brendan Nottle, CEO of Common Grace, Ms Brooke Prentis, Australia’s Ambassador for the Environment, Mr Jamie Isbister, and clinical researcher, Dr Katherine Thompson will inspire us to learn and grow together as Anglican schools.

I encourage Principals, Board Members, Clergy, Chaplains, and Staff of Anglican Schools across the country to come together to discuss and respectfully debate issues, and, most importantly, learn from each other. It is a privilege for us to join together in a forum which reflects and focuses on our Anglican faith in the context of our schools, and for this reason, I prioritise attending the ASA conference each year. As the Principal of an Anglican school, I find this time together to be uplifting and invaluable.

Congratulations to Mrs Debbie Dunwoody, ASA President-Elect and her conference organising committee for their enthusiastic crafting of a deeply engaging conference with such a reflective and meaningful theme.

Just as the Visit Melbourne website encourages us to ‘choose your own adventure in Melbourne’, I commend the conference Intersection to you, and invite you to join us in August to discover what your ‘twist’ is at the 2021 ASA Melbourne Conference.

I look forward to seeing you in Melbourne in August 2021.
