AN INVITATION FROM THE PRESIDENT AND CEO
We are delighted to invite you to the 2025 Anglican Schools Australia (ASA) Conference in Brisbane.
2025 is recognised as the year of Hope for Christians; at a time where there is so much happening in the world around us and many are facing significant daily challenges. Our faith as expressed through the Anglican Identity lived in our schools provides a foundation of care, guidance and inspiration to our students, staff and families.
The theme, ‘Immersion: Living our Anglican Identity,’ is the focus of this year’s conference. Aimed at providing our school leaders, governors and teachers with the opportunity to learn together in strengthening the connection to our faith and how it is lived in our schools, it also provides a pathway to greater hope. As those called to guide and inspire our school communities, there will be opportunities for us to nurture and be nurtured, as we are immersed in conference, celebrating together God’s goodness to us. As Anglican leaders, our time together can inform our words and actions, and enable us to grow in effectiveness as people committed to education… whether principal, senior staff, bishop, chaplain, teacher or governor.
Engaging Speakers
We are delighted at the high calibre of speakers. Through their life experience, this year’s speakers are well-placed to challenge our thinking, engage our minds and stir our hearts. Dr Beth-Sarah Wright (USA) is an expert and author on the pursuit of authenticity, respecting human dignity and the courage to confront difficult truths, all through an Anglican lens. Renowned psychiatrist and neuroscientist Dr Iain McGilchrist (UK), unpacks the profound impact of brain hemispheres on perception, culture, and decision-making. Max Jaganathan (Aust. NSW), Senior Research Fellow at the Centre for Public Christianity. Natalie Cook (Aust. Qld), is a five-time Olympian, and a gold and bronze medallist in beach volleyball. We’re in for a treat as they share their passions, insights and learnings with us.
A Dynamic Program
We had an overwhelming response from our community from those who want to lead a workshop. Building on the success of our 2024 Melbourne conference, this year’s program includes four workshop sessions, each offering five options from the areas of leadership, wellbeing, chaplaincy, inclusion, governance, and learning. There’s something for everyone in the workshop sessions!
The program has also been structured so that delegates may take advantage of our central location in the beautiful city of Brisbane. Our Thursday night Welcome Reception concludes at 6:30 pm, leaving time to explore the city’s dining and riverfront precincts.
Worship and Celebration
As Anglicans, we worship together. So at our conference, worship remains at the heart of our gathering. This year, our Conference Eucharist will be held on Friday evening at St John’s Cathedral, followed by a Cathedral Reception. The conference will conclude on Saturday evening with a dinner at the iconic Tattersall’s Club, featuring a special address by renowned Australian journalist Geraldine Doogue AO. Both the cathedral and Tattersall’s Club are located only a short walk from the Sofitel.
We hope that you will join us at ASA’s exciting 2025 Conference, where together, we will be Immersed in Living our Anglican Identity. We look forward to seeing you there!
