The Research and Innovation Centre at Corinda SHS provides a central hub for the school campus, consolidating under-utilised assets to create a flexible, adaptable centre that fosters contemporary learning out-comes. Students are encouraged to explore their creativity and curiosity in makerspaces, flexible learning areas and research pods, with a large tiered seating space linking across learning levels. The design delivers an environment that enables teachers and students to investigate and collaborate, while enabling inquiry through problem-based learning and creativity. As the heart of the campus the Research and Innovation Centre also offers community connection to the centre of the site, creating a welcoming central environment for visitors.

The Bob Marshman Construction Training Centre is Queensland’s first certified Passivhaus training facility. It is designed as a living laboratory that explores emergent passive thermal design principles. The BMB adopts a wide range of innovative sustainable initiatives including an emphasis on Australian made, locally manufactured, robust, and easy to maintain materials with lower embodied carbon and opportunities for end-of-life cycle reuse and recycle. The building provides a quiet learning environment with an exceptional indoor air quality and tells an important story to educate its occupants on best practices as related to global climate crisis and the building industry’s journey towards Net Zero.
