The renovation of the Fewings Building is part of a larger master plan that reclaims the building’s position amongst the heritage heart of Somerville House, a P-12 Boarding and Day School for girls in South Brisbane.

The century-old building has been reimagined to showcase its original fabric and connection to the Queenslander vernacular. Featuring exposed original brickwork and reopened and extended verandahs, new learning spaces were thoughtfully designed within the ex-isting building constraints to meet contemporary educational needs, prioritising student wellbeing and connection to curated breakout areas. This tour will showcase how thoughtful restoration pays tribute to the site’s rich history while creating inspiring environments that nurture student wellbeing.

Join Learning Environments Australasia Queensland chapter for an exclusive site tour of the Innovation Centre at Redeemer Lutheran College - Rochedale 

Discover a dynamic learning environment designed to foster collaboration across a wide range of disciplines, including Science, Food Science, Business, Design Technology, Robotics, Esports, Video and Audio Production, Hospitality, Textiles, and Art. The design uses curiosity as a driving force, creating a vibrant environment with strong connections and visibility between spaces, complemented by two large, interconnected gallery spaces perfect for displays and events. 

 As part of the masterplan, the Centre is nestled within a beautiful remnant forest, providing students with access to shaded landscapes and a future outdoor chapel. In the next phases, a visual connection to the school chapel will be established, symbolising Redeemer's commitment to restorative practices and holistic learning.

Inside, the adaptable spaces with thoughtfully designed zones, created in collaboration with the furniture supplier, offer the perfect setting for group work, problem-solving, and deep individual projects. Come and see how Redeemer is shaping education.
