Ohana is a co-educational secondary school designed for students disengaged from mainstream education. Extensive collaboration shaped a campus prioritizing social-emotional wellbeing and learning. The design manages acoustic and visual stimuli, fostering socialization and collaborative learning while minimising behavioural triggers. Natural light and connection to outdoor spaces create calm, welcoming environments for learning, play, and socializing. The design balances supervision with privacy, utilising frosted glazing to define learning, withdrawal, and common areas while reducing distractions.
The campus supports the College’s welfare focus, accommodating staff, including teachers, aides, youth workers, psychologists, nurses, volunteers, a full-time cook and researchers

BSSSC is a new inner-city vertical high school located within the Brisbane Knowledge Corridor and is an integral part of this leading education, health and research network.
The campus is connected across five new buildings with open gallery settings that frame views of the broader setting. The historical use of the area for camping, weaving and the making of tools by the lo-cal First Nations inspired details, colours and material selections.
Each building is centred around double storey learning hubs, which offer next-level learning character-ised by open, adaptable and shared presentation spaces for collaboration across multiple disciplines
