Site tour 16 - Anglican Church Grammar School (Churchie) & Cannon Hill Anglican College

School: Anglican Church Grammar School (Churchie)
Project:  The Centenary Library and the Creative Innovation Arts Hub
Architect: BSPN Architecture

The Centenary Library has reimagined its role as the ‘Heart of the School’. The building functions like a tertiary library, through a service-orientation that extends learning beyond the traditional school day.

The Creative Innovation Arts Hub connects the Preparatory and Secondary campuses, blending contemporary design with heritage. Featuring Art Studios, Maker Spaces, and flexible Year 3 classrooms, it inspires creativity and exploration.

Post occupancy research shows both buildings significantly influence teaching practices, with teacher spatial expertise developing through interactions with the spaces. These thoughtfully designed environments reduce teacher and student cognitive load, fostering adaptive teaching and enriching the learning experience.

School: Cannon Hill Anglican College
Project:  D Block
Architect: Reddog Architects in association with Bluel-ine Architecture

The Cannon Hill Anglican College (CHAC) D Block features six teaching spaces, breakout areas, a deck, locker bays, amenities, a kitchen, and a food and beverage precinct. Aligned with CHAC’s masterplan, it bridges CHAC’s senior and middle schools and offers flexibility for events and learning. The design preserves mature trees, enhances bushland aesthetics with a white brick palette, and incorporates muted interior colours as wayfinding aids. Sustainability features include cross ventilation, shaded windows, and minimal-maintenance materials. Outdoor learning undercrofts and flexible spaces optimise functionality. The project is award-winning, including a National Commenda-tion for Architecture.
