Invitation from the President

I am pleased to invite you to the Anglican Schools Australia (ASA) 2021 Virtual Conference. With the theme of Intersection, this conference presents a unique opportunity to reflect on the intersection of faith and learning in our Anglican schools. While we cannot gather in Melbourne for the conference, I have every confidence our virtual program will be engaging and prove to be a stimulating forum which reflects and focuses on our Anglican faith in the context of our schools.

The conference builds on the themes of the 2019 Anglican Identity workshops conducted by The Reverend Daniel Heischman.  Ann Mellow, Associate Director of the National Association of Episcopal Schools in the United States and Richard Browning, Director of Mission, Anglican Schools Commission SQ, will assist you to explore and articulate your own school’s Anglican Identity in Action.  Thought-provoking speakers also include 2013 Melbournian of the Year, Major Brendan Nottle; CEO of Common Grace, Ms Brooke Prentis; Australia’s Ambassador for the Environment, Mr Jamie Isbister; clinical researcher, Dr Katherine Thompson and members of the Diocese of Melbourne Preventing Violence against Women program, who will inspire us to learn and grow together as Anglican schools.

Our new conference dates are Thursday 12 and Friday 13 August.  The Chaplain's Networking and Emerging Leaders' Day will be held at Trinity College on Wednesday 11 August.

Congratulations to Mrs Debbie Dunwoody, ASA President-Elect, and her conference organising committee for their enthusiastic crafting of an engaging virtual conference with a reflective and meaningful theme. I thank the committee for their outstanding capacity to re-imagine our conference virtually, when gathering in Melbourne was not possible.

We all have an opportunity to gather as Anglican Schools in our local areas for this event to network and learn from each other at this important time.  I hope that you will be able to organise such gatherings.

I commend the conference Intersection to you and invite you to join us virtually in August.
