The Potential Impact of Depression and Anxiety on Student Agency

Abstract:
Join Bryan as he explores how depression and anxiety can impact on a student’s capacity to access education. As the two most prevalent groups of mental illness in our community, anxiety and depression can significantly reduce the ability to socialise, learn, and motivate oneself. This may result in school refusal, an increase in comorbid conditions, reduced productivity at school, and a general deterioration in physical and mental wellbeing.

In this presentation, we will discuss practical strategies to recognise and support students experiencing depression and anxiety, thus ensuring they can be an agent for their own individual learning pathway.
