MeeT the ABG Conference Committee

Sylvia Hanna is the Senior Lead Brachytherapy RT at the Olivia Newton John Cancer Wellness and Research Centre, Austin Health in Melbourne. With over 10 years of experience in brachytherapy, she leads the MRI-guided adaptive gynaecological brachytherapy program and has pioneered and published an in-house credentialing program for radiation therapists training in brachytherapy.  Sylvia is also a member of the Australian Brachytherapy Committee executive committee.

Steph Miller is the Lead Brachytherapy RT at Alfred Health Radiation Oncology at The Alred Hospital in Melbourne. Specialising in brachytherapy since 2008, Steph has spearheaded numerous implementation projects, advancing techniques and technology for patients. She plays an active role in the Australian Brachytherapy community, serving on the executive committee of the Australasian Brachytherapy Group, educating at ABG Clinical Training Workshops, and lecturing for the RANZCR Radiation Oncology Training Program. Outside of her professional pursuits, Steph enjoys outdoor activities with her family.

Gemma is a Radiation Therapist Specialist with over 15 years' experience in the field of brachytherapy. Her expertise is in gynaecological and paediatric brachytherapy. She has been Treasurer of the ABG since 2022 and has been active in the organising committees for several annual scientific meetings and clinical workshops. She is also a member of the ASMIRT brachytherapy reference group.

A/Prof. Joel Poder is a senior radiation oncology medical physicist at St George Hospital Cancer Care Centre in Sydney where he leads the stereotactic radiotherapy, and research portfolios. A/Prof. Poder is the current chairperson of the Australasian Brachytherapy Group and has served on the executive committee for 10 years. A/Prof. Poder holds honorary appointments at the University of Wollongong, University of NSW.
