Architect: ANDREW BARRIE LAB and Tezuka Architects
The site is a 1818sq m corner site on the junction of two arterial roads. The project is a modern wooden building to house 8 classrooms for Junior pupil aged between 5 and 7 yrs. The building was designed by Tezuka Architects (renowned Japanese architects) and Prof Andrew Barrie (Auckland University, Andrew Barrie LAB) . Apart from the amazing wooden-framed construction, the building features a stunning roof-top playground (designed by Lyttleton designer Pippin Wright-Stow) of high visual impact to general public from the adjacent arterial roads.
Christ's College Canterbury Architect: Wilkie and Bruce Architects The new Miles Warren Building at Christ’s College replaces the 1920’s Maths and English classroom buildings and a three level brutalist science block which were all demolished due to serious damage following the Christchurch earthquakes. The College board considered contemporary design alternatives but instead opted for a contextual proposal which builds on and reinterprets the existing architectural language of the campus. The whole campus has exceptionally high heritage value and is made up of predominantly Collegiate Gothic and Arts and Crafts influenced stone buildings arranged around quadrangles.
