Te Matauru Primary
Architect: CO-STUDIO
Te Matauru Primary is a full state primary school (Y0-8) in West Rangiora. It opened at the start of the 2020 school year. The school name was gifted by Ngāi Tūāhuriri, meaning “eyes to the west”, describing the schools positioning towards the Southern Ranges. This is reflected in the school logo and vision:Ekea Kā Taumata Ki Te Uru – “look to the peaks of the alps and ascend to great heights”.
Pegasus Bay School

Our school has a unique history, with deep connections to the area in which we are located. Our Kura was originally a small rural school by the name of Waikuku which was founded in 1873. We relocated from the site at Waikuku to our new school in Pegasus Town in 2014, renaming the school to Te Kura o Manga Kawari, reflecting the varied communities that our school is connected to. Families move to our area for the coastal, rural lifestyle and our school reflects this. It is a school that lets children be children - wear bare feet, climb, get grazes and have fun. We value all that is great about our place - the beaches, the lake, the forest, the wetlands, the river and the history of our area. We believe in learning through experiences, so it is important to us that we engage with our surroundings in meaningful way. We are a school for adventurers, for creators and for thinkers.Primary school for children in Years 1-8
