Making Pos Ed relevant, interesting and fun for eye-rolling adolescents
Craig Becker Deputy Principal – Student Wellbeing & Kate Prowd Wellbeing Coordinator & Teacher, Peninsula Grammar School

Is there a more cynical audience than a room full of teenagers? In this workshop Therese shares a range of ideas for how to teach and apply positive education in secondary schools without sounding like a cheesy do-gooder. Using reflection strategies from Harvard, greater awareness of cultural diversity, and challenging students to look at what is meaningful for them, Peninsula Grammar have created a contemporary understanding and new approach to pragmatic Pos Ed which goes beyond initial surface-level interventions. Plus we have the data to support that it’s working! With quantitative evidence and qualitative feedback from students, parents, and staff we can see what’s working where, including growth in all six areas of Kim Cameron’s Organisational Virtuousness scale. Positive Education is so much more than a classroom curriculum; it’s how we communicate, micro-moments, and in all we do. Come reflect, share, learn and grow with an awesome network of colleagues.
